Process

I design and build ceramic loudspeakers in small series. Each model is the result of a combination of design, materials research, and practical testing. Here's how the process works—from initial idea to finished product.

1. Idea

I started making a gift for a friend: a small, rounded speaker made of concrete, on legs. The combination of design, execution, and electronics brought together many elements that really appealed to me. I decided to make another concrete prototype, this time a zeppelin shape. I couldn't make the design completely seamless. During a conversation, another friend suggested ceramic as an alternative material. That sounded interesting—lighter, more precise, and suitable for small production runs. From that point on, I took it more seriously.

3. Prototype

For the first ceramic model, I printed a 3D master, which I then filled, sanded, and sprayed. From that, I made a plaster mold, which I used to create the first clay form. After firing, the assembly began: I used a Markaudio driver, connected the cables, and built in an integrated amplifier for the subwoofer.

4. Casting

To make the process repeatable, I cast rubber molds from 3D-printed parts. These create the actual plaster molds I work with. Each mold consists of six parts, which I use clamps to hold securely together and fill with liquid clay. The model is fired in the kiln, and finally, I assemble it.

I build these speakers because I believe that good sound and good design can enhance each other. Everything you see and hear has been crafted with care.
